At SvetYoga, one of the most meaningful classes we offer is the ongoing Satsang. It is unlike any yoga class you have likely seen at a local yoga studio, and goes far beyond the physical postures--or asanas--of yoga.
So what exactly is Satsang?
The word "Satsang" comes from the Sanskrit words sat (meaning "truth") and sang (meaning "group"). Satsang is, essentially, a group of people who are searching for the truth within themselves, and who support one another on that search.
For us, that means diving deep into the ancient wisdom and traditions of yoga in a way that can be applied to our daily lives and struggles. We spend time discussing our understanding of yogic principles with one another, and exploring the path of yoga to learn more about our authentic self and purpose for being.
Beyond our group discussion, members of Satsang experience deeply personal and transformative yoga practices, including physical asanas, pranayama (breathing), mantras, meditation, and yoga nidra. Though we practice together as a group, there is an understanding and respect for the fact that each of us is on our own journey.
Satsang is an ongoing class that meets weekly via video chat. The first Satsang class is free of charge for new students, and no one will be turned away due to a lack of funds. If you are interested in joining our Satsang group, you can find more information in the "Courses" section of our website or contact Svetlana with more questions.
